see what happens is my cute little buds has popped his 2 top teeth. so now when he bites down it REALLY hurts. not just hurts. REALLY hurts.

these teeth came with an interesting event. while i was getting showered up one evening, bob had danny on our bed. danny decided he would eat our foot board. it must have tasted really good because he started to smack his lips. bob asked ‘is that good bed danny?’ then he realized what he was smacking once he saw red. then danny shoved his fist in his mouth then rubbed his nose and eyes. that’s when i got a knock at the bathroom door. i opened it up and there was my buds with blood all over his face. apparently the biting caused the tooth to rip his gums. thus putting my duvet cover back together on no tv tuesday now wednesday. lots of wash to be had with that event.

as for standing. he’s standing. for short periods of time. 10 seconds. 25 seconds. standing. we seriously need some baby gates. stat.

on the list for tonight. hmm.

definitely duvet cover/comforter back together and on bed
my laundry
danny’s laundry away
towels away
swap clothes packed up until swap
maybe laundry room shoe situation
certainly family room coffee table removed of antidanny materials!
and if i’m still going after all this – master closet freshen up

bob’s on dishes, trash, measuring stairs for baby gates, and playing with the buds. maybe if it’s nice out they can head outside and romp. danny is getting into everything now a days – specifically cat food, cat water bowl, cabinets, sockets and anything entertainment center. makes it a smidge tough to get stuff done when every second you are turning around to redirect the buds. i’m thinking swings sounds like a great idea for the boys. maybe if it’s nice out we can even OPEN THE WINDOWS too. everything is better when the windows are open.

on the list for today.
get this publication designed and finished up. i sware the pages are taunting me. i’m gunna squash their intimidating whiteness. just watch me! hmf.

—–

UPDATE!
mama made a pretty page. take that rut. you got nothing on me! you can’t see me.

i’ve also received word that tonight will not be a great night for no tv tuesday. we’ll be switching to wed. meh. i can deal tho. i had a good work out today and my endorphins are kicking. maybe we’ll at least be able to have the windows open.

i think i need a year off. stop laughing at me. are you done?

anyhow. this rut i’m in is expanding. my focus is lacking. my energy is waning. i see clutter everywhere i look but lack the motivation to remove it. blank pages are in front of my face but the inspiration is absent.

maybe if i purge i’ll see my office floor. who needs all this stuff. i certainly dont. and i dont want us to raise danny with the notion of consumption.

i look around and see furniture that doesn’t match my personality. we are not a good fit and i’d like a divorce from birch. immediately. but that’s not possible with the tax bill looming. maybe the annual garage sale that the local nuns host will help with the kitchen table. last time i went my dream table was sitting there for under $200 and a giant sold sticker glaring at me. mean table. but maybe she’ll be there waiting for me at 9 am with a responsible price attached to her.

all in time i guess. my list will be checked off. i’ll figure out what it is i actually want to do. the anxiety will subside. maybe i should use my groupon massage…and a little more rescue remedy…and another kit kat. snuggles from the buds couldn’t hurt. and bob doing his girly voice….

it’s only took us 8.5 months to finally head out and go be adults. it’s very difficult to leave the buds. the show was all ages. he does have his own pair of muffs. hmf.

date night includes a little bit of metal and a lot a bit of ears ringing. we saw avenged sevenfold about 20 min from home and they. were. fabulous. probably one of the best bands i’ve seen live. we had the pleasure to listen to them for just under an hour because they were part of the uproar fest and not the headlining band. sads. i think i need a few more hours with them. so good.

date night also includes a little bit of tears. who am i kidding. i cry at commercials. see, the band lost their drummer while i was on maternity leave. i was broken up then and their tribute to him chokes me up now. he was literally one of the best in his field and the group was able to get his favorite drummer to take on the task of borrowing his shoes. this isn’t a group with major conflicts. these are brothers. their love runs deep.

the patrons of the show were ripe for people watching. the lady right next to me was having the time of her life during stone sour. i would have never thought that was possible but there she was. then there was the 2 guys across the aisle having a head banging bromance. and then there was me in my cute little flower print dress and leggings. i was so not dressed for the scene but i didnt care one bit. i was with my bestest friend and we were at a show years in the making. i couldnt have asked for a better evening out.

for the 2nd night in a row danny has slept in his crib ALL NIGHT!

night 1. i laid danny down and he protested for about 20 min on and off. i went to bed. bob eventually went to bed. i woke up a thousand times to silence. the buds didn’t make a peep the entire night through.

night 2. same routine as night 1. danny did wake once. yelled for a few min and back asleep he went. he did awake about quarter to 6 in the morning. i snatched him up and brought him to the best snuggler in the world…his dad. when i left for work they were cuddled up, mouths open, both snoring. adore.

This month has brought in a wave of changes with our little guy. the biggest change is his mobility. Danny crawls at lightening speed. across the kitchen, up the stairs, through our room, he’s a machine. we have to hover over him at all times or we run the risk of a hand in the cat food (and all the pellets on the floor, that was fun to clean), a solo trip up the stairs (thank god he only made it 2 steps), a finger in an outlet (well, we are 1 for 3, he’s yet to do this). He’s also taken kindly to cruising along anything he’s pulled up on. He especially loves the coffee table that’s covered in all kinds of antidanny materials. When will we learn to stash away all our belongings until danny moves out? But wait! there’s more. Did you watch the previous post? danny is now intrigued in walking with the walker thing. he helps himself to it, now that he knows what it is, and can clear a room in a blink. we seriously need to invest in a couple baby gates, outlet plugs and an organizational specialist.

along with the movement business the buds has started to do one of our favorite things in the world. it’s so damn cute. if he’s just sitting there happy, sad, whatever and you go to pick him up, he’ll raise his arms to you. my heart just melts typing this. it’s seriously puppies licking kittens cute.

he’s also doing a little something else with his arms – the beginnings of tantrums. when he’s upset he’ll throw his arms down. and up. then forcefully down. it’s evident he’s a little angerball at that point.

we’ve moved on from purees to texturize and bite sized foods. with the bite sized we have to go at it a little slow so danny gets used to the chunks and thus far it’s been a ravishing success – even with the lima beans. we’ve also introduced formula. i just can not keep up with danny’s appetite so the supplementation has gone into effect. buds doesnt seem to mind one bit and i really believe a giant bottle is helping him sleep better at night.

wait. here’s another cute thing, this might be cuter that puppies licking kittens, this is a kitten hanging from a tree limb cute. we have 3 kitties who have been champs at tolerating their new attacker. danny just loves them up and down. he sees them and gets a huge nerdy grin on his face. we started to ask danny ‘where’s the kitty?’. he stops almost instantly and looks around for them. if he scouts one out, he locks on like a heat seeking missile and out comes nerd smile. but wait! out of his mouth he blurts a kuh sound. grin. kuh. kuh. grin. bob is sure he’s just mimicking us. sometimes i want to believe he is putting 2 and 2 together. who really knows. danny will also do this at the shop with nana and grampa’s doggy. speaking of doggies, i’ve notice a couple encounters where danny is not a fan of the pooches. once with a big o’l dopey golden lab and then with a tiny purse dog (that freak out was hilarious btw. danny’s bigger that the pooch). I can’t tell if he’s really scared or intimidated. I need to watch his reactions a little more carefully as he grows.

then there is the initial understanding of the word NO (unless he’s in the bath tub because apparently all bets are off in the bath tub. danny’s rules, not mine. i’m working on that though). if he’s doing something he shouldnt be doing, say attempting to crawl through the cat door (we really are great parents and do watch his every move. i sware) we sternly say ‘danny, no’. and that boy turns around and sits down on his dupa and moves on to something else. at that point we praise him and smooch him and just love him to pieces. this certainly has not been perfected, c’mon, he’s 8 months old, it’s a very good start though. maybe in 16 years he’ll be just as good at listening to us (hold on, i need to laugh for a moment…….ok).

hopefully with month 9 we’ll get sleeping figured out (laughing again…..ok). hopefully we’ll get to swim more, the weather will cool off a bit so we can go swing in the backyard, and maybe even another chomper.

happy months 8 buds!

and a day later…photo and he’s a cutie!

my dear friend from the 3rd grade had her baby on july 27!

amy and i met when ms. zotek sat us next to each other in 3rd grade. i asked her what she was doing and she said she was writing a letter to joey from new kids on the block. i said who’s that? since i didn’t have a pool like she did i was totally out of the loop on the coolness that was going on around me. these new kids on the block boys were totally dreamy and i had no idea. so i decided to join her in her letter and our friendship blossomed.

i distinctly remember dialing her phone number from my moms room. i was kneeling on her bed looking out her window. butterflies where flying through my tummy as this was the first time i ever called a friend. my little hand was shaking with the little piece of yellow paper her name and number was penciled on. just a year ago my parents divorced and my mom moved us to a darling townhouse and a new school. at least that school transfer was a little less painful seeing that it was only the 2nd grade and i had yet to have years of friendships under my belt. it took me a solid year to make friends and amy was the first. her parents were always wonderful to me even though i was a tad hyper. i often went to her house after school until my mom got off work where we’d swim, play horse, watch scrabble, play pool extremely incorrectly, or play with the skip it. it was an absolute blast.

now we both have darling boys that can get into shenanigans together! matthew david was born july 27th, tipping the scale at 7lbs 2 oz and 19.5 inches. he’s a lil guy and i can not wait to meet him!!

night 1 – sunday – meh.

8:30. I really love the snuggle to sleep process. so we trotted up to bed per danny’s request. he nibbled, we read, he slept.
9:30. I transferred him to the crib without a hitch.
10:40. danny stirs. i let him cry for 15 min, then i enter & assess. I attempt to shush, lay him down, calm down, you name it. i lose.
11:00. enter bob. he picks up danny. tries for a few and passes him off. i cry while danny cries. it’s awful.

he finally settles and we are back to bed by 11:20.

2:00. danny looses his shit. but i stick to my guns. i let him cry for 15 min. when i got to him he was fighting me and throwing his arms all over. so i took him out, swaddled and back in. lots of shushing and patting. he’d trick me and look asleep after a few min, then open his eyes, see i wasn’t there and scream. I almost slept on his floor. by 2:40 he slept and he made it to 5 am before I brought him in our bed to eat. i ran late and couldnt make my lunch. boo.

night 2 – monday – is he breathing?

8:00 – bob attempts to feed danny dinner again and danny refuses solids again because he’s got the sniffles. danny is also eating like a maniac lately and i can not keep up with production so we decided to supplement a couple bottles with formula. since buds wouldn’t eat we tried a bottle of formula 1. to see if he’d be ok with it and 2. to make sure he didn’t have a reaction. both were a success.
9:00 – nurse, then snuggle danny to sleep and transfer him to his crib.

and then. nothing. nothing. nothing. 2 am rolled around. nothing. it wasn’t until 4 am that danny awoke. standing in his crib. i’m not sure if it was hunger or lightening that woke him. we had a killer storm this morning that both woke and scared bob and i. at that point i brought danny to bed with us and nursed him. he chowed down and passed out. i think he was hungry.

this makes me wonder if all this time when the dr and the books said he should be sleeping through the night and if he’s waking to nurse that it’s a habit – he’s not hungry…that he really was hungry and i was right to feed him. i kinda wish i would have listened to my gut and now i think i was starving him instead. and now i feel like a jerk.

tonight we are going to increase his formula bottle by 2 oz and nurse. let’s see what that does to the little man.

night 3 – tuesday – back in our bed
the buds has the sniffles. more like his sinus is full of yellowy snot that no matter how much i suck out it’s still full so he snores when he sleeps.

7:00 – buds falls asleep on the sofa and stays that way until i woke him at 9 for a shower/bath/splash and laugh the tears away time.

9:30 – 6oz bottle, book, nurse and back asleep in about 5 min

bob gave me the go ahead to keep danny with us during the night because his breathing had me worried. poor kid is just so snotty right now. he woke up twice but nothing a little shushing and paci couldn’t solve. 4:30 rolled around and danny ate like a maniac.

i’m really thinking his waking issues were definitely due to hunger but my little week experiment is going down the tubes thanks to the snotty sniffles. i am feeling more confident though which is more than i could ever ask for last week when sleep was non-existent.

night 4 – wednesday – hold
i think that we’ll have to revisit the experiment once danny feels better. he definitely has a cold. last evening was one of his worst evenings of his entire life. he didn’t want to nap. play. sit. eat. nothing. i had bob take a gander at his gums and he thought he saw something. that was good enough for me to give mr. crabs some advil. 2 min later danny was out cold on the sofa.

9:30 pm – gave danny an 8oz bottle that he chugged down and passed out while eating.

3:50 am – danny slept in our bed due to the massive amounts of snot and my nervousness of his breathing. danny woke up and i got his pacifier back in his mouth and he was sound asleep.

I think we’ll end the put this all on hold until the buds is feeling better. we are sure he has a cold because bob is sick now too. if buds also has a tooth coming in, my word, poor kid. the rest of the week needs to focus on health, snuggles and love.
